The question on your desk

What would you
like to talk through?

Early warnings, compensation events, programmes, records and day-to-day administration. Start with the part you want to understand better.

These are examples of questions you could bring. There is no need to arrive with a presentation.

01

How should we distinguish an early warning from a compensation event notification?

Early warnings & notifications
02

What should a good site record capture when the work changes?

Records & supporting evidence
03

How do programme updates feed into NEC4 contract administration?

Programmes & progress
04

Which details in our Contract Data should we check first?

Contract Data & project context

Keep examples anonymous. Please leave out client names, confidential documents and sensitive commercial details.

Experience behind the answers

NEC4, with someone
who helped draft it.

Ben founded CEMAR and was a member of the NEC4 drafting team. As Gather’s Commercial Director, he brings practical experience of how NEC contracts are used by project teams.

Office Hours gives Gather users a regular opportunity to put a question to him, explore the context and hear what other teams are working through.

A resource for your team

Make space for
your NEC4 questions.

Reserve a little time on Wednesday. Bring the question you have been meaning to ask, or come to learn from the discussion.

  • Proposed slot: Wednesdays, 12:30–13:15 UK time
  • Online, with Ben Walker
  • Included for Gather users at no extra charge
  • All levels of NEC4 experience welcome

General guidance, not legal advice. Sessions provide general information and discussion, rather than a review of your particular contract. The contract form, edition, options, Contract Data and amendments can change the answer. Do not delay notices or other contractual action while waiting for a session.

Before you join

A few useful
details.

An informal session with a clear purpose: helping Gather users understand NEC4 in practice.

Who can join?

Sessions are for people at organisations that are current Gather customers. They are relevant to commercial, project, planning and site teams working with NEC4.

Do I need to have a question?

No. You are welcome to listen and learn from the questions other attendees bring. Beginners and experienced NEC4 users are both welcome.

Will every question be answered?

We will cover as many as time allows. Questions submitted in advance help Ben prepare. If your question needs a detailed contract review, we will explain the limits of what can be covered in a group session.

Can I bring a question from a live project?

You can bring a generalised example. Please remove names and sensitive commercial information, and do not upload confidential contract documents. Other customer organisations may be in the session, so this is not a private consultation.

Will the sessions be recorded?

We propose keeping the pilot Q&A unrecorded and sharing an anonymised written summary reviewed by Ben. The recording policy will be confirmed before registration opens.

Is this legal advice?

No. Office Hours provides general information and discussion. Your own contract, amendments and circumstances need to be checked before deciding what action to take. If a deadline or notice is approaching, do not wait for the next session.

Does the time change when the clocks change?

The proposed slot is 12:30–13:15 UK time, following GMT or BST as appropriate. Confirmed session invitations will show the correct time for your calendar.

How is this different from the NEC4 webinars?

The webinar library explores set topics in more depth. Office Hours starts with the questions Gather users bring that week, with time for live discussion.

Thank you. Your interest has been registered. We’ll contact you about NEC4 Office Hours when session details are confirmed. This is not a session booking.
