Gather is pleased to announce its partnership with Amey for Control Period 7 (CP7) as its centralised construction record management system for the North West and Central (NW&C) region. CP7 covers the five-year period between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2029. On 27 March, Network Rail announced the winners of the nearly £2 billion capital works delivery frameworks.

Among the winners is Amey, a leading provider of full lifecycle engineering and operational infrastructure services in the UK. With a strong track record in enhancing and maintaining rail infrastructure, Amey has secured the following frameworks for the NW&C region:

  1. AC Switchgear throughout the NW&C region
  2. Power & Distribution for the North West region, Central Route, and West Coast South Route
  3. Low Voltage Plant & Signalling Power for Central Route and West Coast South Route

The above CP7 frameworks encompass a variety of projects ranging from £100,000 to £7 million. The scale and complexity of these projects require efficient, effective collaboration between asset owners, contractors, and subcontractors to deliver the frameworks on budget and on time.

Real-time project updates

Amey has chosen Gather's innovative record management platform to digitally plan, document, and analyse all site activities. The real-time data from production will be shared with all stakeholders, including those who deliver, coordinate, and finance the works.

The real-time site data captured using Gather will be shared with Amey's clients, stakeholders and supply chain partners.

This signifies a fundamental shift from fragmented data to a centralised, comprehensive, and searchable database. Understanding what is happening on-site and how to enhance future performance will now be just a few clicks away for engineers, project managers, and commercial managers in the office.

"CP7 is a multi-year framework. Having the right data is critical to our success," emphasises Matthew Allen, Account Director at Amey. "Gather's reporting features will be invaluable, enabling us to generate clear and concise reports for stakeholders, to keep everyone informed and aligned."

Single source of truth

Besides increasing productivity and enhancing cross-function communications, Gather's record management system will ease potential friction between supply chain partners by providing a single source of truth.

“The CP7 framework uses NEC4 contracts, so having high quality, consistent, records is vital. Gather gives us exactly that. It can create a central repository of current records and eliminate the challenges that come with retrospectively piecing together information from different supply chain partners," says Dave Prior, Amey’s Commercial Director for Rail.

Field users such as Assistant Project Manager Jess Newcombe called Gather's digital solution "life-changing." When fully deployed, Gather can eliminate error-prone, manual administrative burdens of sourcing site information days or weeks after the work has happened. This will ensure that the audit trail remains clear and robust.

Alex Pettitt, who leads the Commercial team for Amey’s NW&C E&P Frameworks, looks forward to realising the value Gather can add: "This record management system will facilitate communication, mitigate risk, and minimise potential disputes. We're confident Gather will help ensure a commercially beneficial outcome for both Amey and our CP7 stakeholders."
