Will Doyle nearly lost £20 million.
He was a quantity surveyor on the North West Electrification Programme, working through entitlement that should have been straightforward to prove. The evidence existed. Site teams had written down what happened on every shift. But it sat scattered across notebooks, spreadsheets and email threads, and by the time anyone went looking, the deadlines that mattered had passed.
That's the problem Gather exists to solve.
Will trained as a quantity surveyor and spent years substantiating change on live infrastructure projects, which is a polite way of saying he'd spent years arguing about what had happened on site and struggling to prove it in time. He founded Raildiary in 2016 to fix the record keeping. In 2024 he rebranded it as Gather, as the work spread beyond rail into highways, water, aviation, hospitals and energy.
Gather is now the AI powered site diary and commercial record platform used by Balfour Beatty, Costain, Murphy, Amey and Network Rail. Its QS AI Agent reads site diaries against NEC4 clause triggers and flags compensation events before the eight week time bar closes. It finds up to 40% more of them than manual review, and cuts the admin behind it by around 70%.
